Requirements to be met by facilities intended for a nursing office

A nurse who wants to provide nursing services in her own office must have premises equipped with medical equipment and apparatus.  Requirements to be met by the nursing office relate in particular to general housing, sanitary and system conditions. It is permitted to locate the premises in a residential flat where a professional practice is conducted, provided that the area of the office premises is separated from the rest of the flat used by other persons.

The entities providing medical services must extract from the premises:

1) at least one room or location for storage of clean linen;

2) at least one room or location for storage of dirty linen;

3) at least one room or location for waste; The furniture in the premises of the entity providing medical services allows it to be cleaned and disinfected (not applicable to offices in a residential flat). Floors should be made of material allowing easy washing and disinfection;

Rooms in which tests or treatments are carried out, with the exception of the rooms in which magnetic resonance imaging is undertaken, must be equipped with:

1) at least one wash basin with a faucet with hot and cold water;

2) a dispenser with liquid soap;

3) a dispenser with a disinfectant;

4) a container with disposable towels and a container for used towels.  The rooms, in which tests or treatments with the use of reusable tools and equipment are carried out, regardless of the wash basins, must be equipped with a sink and a faucet.

These requirements are strictly defined in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26th, 2012 on detailed requirements for premises and equipment of the entity performing medical activities.

The nurse must have a legal title to the premises where the activity is to be conducted (tenancy agreement, lease, sublease).

 

Required devices and medical equipment:

1) the equipment of the office of a primary health care nurse:

a) a couch,

b) a treatment table or a nurse's workstation - furnished and equipped according to the tasks of primary health care nurses,

c) a cabinet for storing drugs, medical products and aids,

d) a telephone,

e) an injection kit,

f) a dressing application kit and a set of basic surgical instruments,

g) decontamination and disinfection packages,

h) means of personal protection (white coats, masks, gloves),

i) an anti-shock kit, which includes:

- Natrii chloridum 0.9% - solution for injection,

- Hydrocortisonum hemisuccinatum - powder and solvent to make a solution for injection or infusion or other therapeutic equivalents,

- Glucosum 20% - solution for injection,

- Infusion fluids:

- Glucosum 5% - solution for infusion,

- Natrii chloridum + Calla chloridum + Calcii chloridum dihydricum - (8.6 mg + 0.3 mg + 0.33 mg)/ml - solution for intravenous infusion,

j) an apparatus for measuring blood pressure with a set of cuffs for children and adults,

k) a stethoscope,

l) tests for determining blood sugar level,

m) a glucose meter,

n) thermometers,

o) a facial mask to conduct artificial respiration,

p) equipment and aids for carrying out screening tests,

r) a medical scale weighing infants,

s) a medical scale with a the height measurement rod;

2) nurse bags, matching the number of nurses simultaneously providing primary healthcare services at the home of the beneficiary, equipped with:

a) the basic equipment and disposable materials, including: an injection performance kit, an infusion solution transfusion kit, a dressing application kit and a set of basic surgical instruments, a protection package against infection,

b) an anti-shock kit, which includes:

- Natrii chloridum 0.9% - solution for injection,

- Hydrocortisonum hemisuccinatum - powder and solvent to make a solution for injection or infusion or other therapeutic equivalents,

- Glucosum 20% - solution for injection,

- Infusion fluids:

- Glucosum 5% - solution for infusion,

- Natrii chloridum + Calla chloridum + Calcii chloridum dihydricum - (8.6 mg + 0.3 mg + 0.33 mg)/ml - solution for intravenous infusion,

c) apparatus for measuring blood pressure with a set of cuffs for children and adults,

j) a set necessary to perform hygienic and care treatments and procedures,

These requirements are set out in Annex 2 to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of September 24th, 2013 on the guaranteed services in the field of primary medical health care.
