Requirements to be met by facilities intended for a veterinary office

The premises where a veterinary office is to be maintained and its equipment must meet the following conditions:

  • a separate building or premises; separate part of the building;
  • a separate entrance;
  • a waiting room with seating;
  • floors made of durable material, resistant to water and disinfectants, and easily cleanable;
  • a place for veterinary documentation separated in such a manner, so that unauthorized persons do not have access to it;
  • a working water, electrical, heating and sewerage systems;
  • equipment allowing the exchange of air;
  • sink with running water, personal care products

The size of the reception room along with the waiting room should be at least 8 m2.

The height of the reception room and waiting room should be at least 2.2 m

The area of the sanitary facilities and the social facilities should be at least 3 m2.


Besides, a medical office for animals is a public utility building and must comply with the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Development from April 12th, 2002 on the technical requirements to be met by buildings and their location;

 

Equipment requirements:

A veterinary office should be equipped with a treatment table, a stethoscope, a germicidal lamp, autoclave or sterilizer, X-ray apparatus, devices for storing medicinal, sanitary and disposable products.  You should also be prepared to provide services outside the office.  To do this you must have containers to ensure sterility of the carried equipment.  If the doctor intends to perform treatments under general anaesthesia, the office must be equipped with intravenous drug dosage and a shadowless source of light.

Requirements relating to premises and its equipment are strictly defined in the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of August 16th, 2004 on the requirements for veterinary offices.
