The product fee for entities introducing batteries and cells to the market

Settlement of performance of the obligation to provide the required level of collection is conducted at the end of the calendar year.

If the entity introducing portable batteries or portable cells to the market has not fulfilled the above requirement, it is obliged to pay a product fee.

The basis for calculating the product fee is the mass of collected waste portable batteries and waste portable cells. The payable product fee is calculated as the product of the fee rate and the difference between the weight of waste portable batteries and waste portable cells to be collected in order to achieve the required level of collection in a calendar year and the mass of waste portable batteries and waste portable cells collected in that year.

The product fee rate for waste portable batteries and waste portable cells is PLN 9 per kilogram.

The obligation to calculate the predicted product fee due at the end of the calendar year.
The product fee is paid to a separate bank account in the Marshal's office not later than March 15th of the year following the year to which it relates. It is reported on the form which can be found as the Annex to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment of September 17th, 2009 on the pattern of the annual report on product fee charges due to the failure to achieve the required level of collection of waste portable batteries and waste portable cells (this law applies by virtue of temporary provisions).
