In the case where an insured person do not wish to become a member of an open pension fund, their whole contribution to the mandatory pension insurance will be transferred to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). An insured person who wants to be insured only in ZUS does not have to submit any statement. The Social Insurance Institution will inform the insured person who has not entered into an agreement with an open pension fund about the obligation to submit a written declaration on property relations existing between the insured and his/her spouse, and about the fact that the insured has the right to appoint persons entitled to receive funds after the insured's death.
NOTICE
Every four years, starting in 2016, during the period from 1 April to 31 July, an insured will be able to change his decision and decide again whether his/her contribution to the mandatory pension insurance is to be transferred to ZUS as a whole or also partially transferred to OFE (open insurance fund).
