Other freight forwarding services

The concept of freight forwarding is understood as the organizing of transport of goods. The result is a series of activities involving not only transport but also the tasks that accompany other work to safeguard the timely delivery. As a result, freight forwarding is a set of actions associated with delivery, carriage, loading, unloading and handling of goods.
The basic steps often referred to as proper freight forwarding are:

- selection of appropriate means of transport

- drawing up the necessary transport documentation

- concluding agreements regarding transit

- insurance of goods

- accepting orders and providing advice related to the processes forwarding

- receipt of goods from the sender

- shipping the product together with appropriate documentation and also receiving it with the documentation

- the transfer of goods to the recipient

Forwarders performing these tasks are 'pure forwarders'.

On the other hand we can talk about a complex forwarding when the company has the possibility to perform activities associated with the shipment and pursue additional steps. The latter include:

- storage of goods

- picking up charges for the delivered goods,

- carrying out the assignment of rights to the consignment,

- sale of goods

- arranging customs clearance

- preparation of the shipment as: packing, packaging, quality and quantity control, marking, loading, unloading, handling, palletizing, logistics of returns and empty packages.

In order to perform these operations, the shipping company should employ qualified staff (customs agents, warehouse managers, forklift operators) and have or hire adequate equipment (forklifts, cranes, warehouses, car fleet). It is worth noting, that such activities do not require obtaining a license for brokering the carriage of goods.
